What Was the Purpose of Jesus’ Life and Ministry?
It might be helpful to begin with this animated explanation for age-appropriate students:
Luke 19:5 – For the Son of Man [Jesus] has come to seek and save that which was lost. (ESV)
Why did Jesus come to earth?
He came both to seek and save the lost.
Who is the lost?
Everyone. We all, like Adam, have sinned are are lost.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. (ESV)
What is the result of what Christ has done?
We become new creations. Before being in Christ, we were slaves to sin. Now we are new creatures who can obey God.
How does someone become a new creation?
They must be “in Christ,” which means to have a relationship with him.
How does someone become in Christ?
Someone becomes in Christ by trusting in Christ to save you and making him the lord of your life.
Scripture Memory Verse:

The purpose of Jesus’ life and ministry was to save lost people by making us into new creations.
