Catechism Week 30 is Published!

The final installment of our new children’s catechism, Catechism – Week 30 – The Eschaton, Part 2, has been published. It answers the question, “What is the ultimate goal and purpose of the people of God?” This now concludes our offering of 30 weekly catechism questions for families to use in the discipleship of their children into the basic theology and ethics of Christianity.

No Shortcuts: Why Holiness Still Matters

No ShortcutsHoliness is not a thing, a doctrine, or a set of standards. Holiness is simply the nature of Jesus Christ being produced in our lives so that He may demonstrate Himself in everything we say, do, and are. In the closing passage of 1 Corinthians 10, Paul crystallizes a simple principle that is indispensable for evangelism and discipleship for all times: revival leads to holiness, which then leads to evangelism.

The revelation of His holiness through us in everyday life is God’s plan for winning people to Jesus and making disciples. This has never been more crucial than in the challenging days we face in our culture. There are no shortcuts, and holiness matters as much now as it ever has.

Our study is Finding I Am, by Lisa TerKeurst. This interactive study features five weeks of personal, daily assignments and six weekly group sessions with video teaching. We will explore the seven I AM statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John and discover how He truly is the bread, the light, the gate & the Good Shepherd, the resurrection & the life, the way, the truth, and the true vine. Applying these truths to our hearts can transform our lives!

Books will be available at the first sessions at a cost of $15.
(If you are unable to afford the book, please call and let us know and we can get you one free.)

Childcare is available for preschool children ages 0-5 years for Morning Light only. You must pre-register your children by 2/13 so that we will have appropriate staffing. Pre-register by contacting us with the names & ages of your preschool children.

Questions about Morning Light OR Night Light? Contact us.

UPDATE: Plans for Church on Sunday 1/8/17

There will be no services of any kind on Sunday, January 8th due to the impact of the winter storm currently affecting the greater Elizabeth City area. You are encouraged to worship the Lord in your own heart, with family, and with others however possible. Please help us spread the word through all of your contacts so that no one ventures out unadvisedly. Stay safe, keep warm, check on your friends and neighbors, and we will resume our regular worship schedule this week.

A Night of Christmas

PLEASE JOIN US Friday, December 16th for our 2nd annual EMC “Night of Christmas” music and sweet exchange from 7-8:30pm. All are welcome as we join in community to celebrate the birth of our Savior and acknowledge, “It’s a Wonderful Life”!

Please bring 3 dozen of your favorite family Christmas sweets to the event to share and all guests will receive a bakery box to fill and bring home for their own celebrations.

Also, we are asking to borrow “angel” décor for our centerpieces. If you have one to share, please bring it to the church anytime on the 16th from 3-5pm or if you can part with it earlier, you can bring it to church on Sunday, December 11 and leave it in the kitchen with your name on the bottom. All “borrowed” angels will go home with you after the event on the 16th.

Please consider inviting members of the community and your extended family for this special evening of fellowship. Refreshments will be served.
