I Peter Book Study (2018)
Abuse and persecution were par for the course for many believers who followed Christ in the first century. To comfort and encourage these persecuted believers, the apostle Peter wrote them a letter near the end of his life. In it he reminds his readers of their precious hope in Jesus Christ which far outweighed any sufferings they endured for their faith. He urges all believers to live holy lives as a testimony to Christ for unbelievers. In light of even greater sufferings to come, the apostle also comforts and prepares his audience with the hope that through their sufferings their faith would be perfected and their souls would be purified. It is a message for Christians of all times and places.
