Why does the universe exist?
God created it.
Colossians 1:16-17 – For by [Christ] all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (ESV)
What did God create?
God created everything. This includes people, animals, nature, and governments.
Was God’s work done after creating it?
No, he continues to hold all creation together.
Why did God create?
Because God is three persons (see lesson on Trinity in week 3), God did not create because of loneliness, but the Triune God desired to invite others into loving relationship. God created out of love so that He could show his love.
