EMC Chapel Prayer Walk

Welcome to this self-guided interactive prayer walk through EMC Chapel's 16 stained glass windows, depicting key moments in the life, ministry, death, resurrection, and coming return of Jesus Christ.

Follow these instructions:

Step 1: Starting with the window closest to the piano, take a few moments to look at the image depicted, taking in all the details.

Step 2: Read the Bible reference, followed by the Old Testament reading that foreshadows or connects to it. Let the image in the window bring the words of Scripture to life.

Step 3: Use the Prayer Prompts to guide a brief time of prayer. Personalize the prayer time to your current situation in life as needed.

Step 4: Mediate on the included Hymn Verse or Chorus, incorporating the lyrics into your prayerful reflection. Or, if you have the time, play the lyric video to listen or sing along in worship.

Step 5: Travel counterclockwise around the chapel until you complete all 16 windows. (Note: The window behind the choir loft is not included.) The entire prayer walk should take you (at minimum) roughly 25 minutes.

For the optimal experience, consider the following:

• Complete the prayer walk during daylight hours. The sun shining through the windows enhances the beauty of the stained glass.
• Do not rush. The goal is not the destination, but the journey.
• Immerse yourself. Take in every detail of each image. Mediate on the Bible verses, allowing their truth to soak deep into your mind and heart. Speak, but also listen, in prayer. Sing along to the included videos as your own personal act of praise.
• Take as much time as needed. The bare minimum is 25 minutes, but the experience works best when you can spend at least 90 minutes.
